THE BIG GAME

so even though i didnt get to watch the superbowl today, i got to hear about how awesome it was from everyone who did! Originally, ill admit, i was rooting for the patriots, but im glad that the Giants won. Its always nice when the underdog wins (for those who didnt bet money on the patriots anyway.) So here are some interesting facts about the superbowl that i picked up from good magazine. YAY SUPERBOWL!!!

1. over 40% of the audience is female

2.The superbowl is the second largest eating holiday of the year (after thanksgiving)!!!

3. The expected money spent on food for game day is $55 million

4. On game day, Americans eat: 15,000 tons of chips (if you lined up each chip it would make a trail nearly 293,000 miles long), 4,000 tons of popcorn (the string of popcorn would ring the earth nearly 5 1/2 times), 54.3 million lbs. of avocado to make an estimated 8 million lbs. of guacamole (5.4% of the yearly crop)

5. The rate of car accidents increases by nearly 41% in the 4 hours after the superbowl.

6. 7-11 reports that sales of Antacid increases by 20% the day after the superbowl

7. 30 seconds of commercial time during this year's superbowl costs $2.7 million (thats over $86,000 per second)

8. The terms "NFL," "SuperBowl," and "Super Sunday" are trademarked by the NFL and promoters not sanctioned by the NFL must refer to the event as "The Big Game"
